Chobham lies about 3 miles north-west of Woking and roughly midway between the stations at Woking and Sunningdale. It stayed a village while the railway towns grew. The conservation area, first designated in 1972, takes in the listed buildings on each side of the High Street, with St Lawrence Church as its focal point, and two small rivers, the Mill Bourne and the Bourne, flow through the village. Chobham Common, a National Nature Reserve, is to the north. The parish borders West End, and Chertsey is about six miles to the north-east.
