If you have never hired a cleaner before, the same handful of questions come up every time. This post answers the common questions about hiring a cleaner, first in general terms, then with how we do it at Pro Cleaning Woking. The answers are short; follow the links for more detail.
How much will it cost?
Most home cleaning is charged by the hour, so the price depends on how long the job takes: the size of the home, its condition, how often you book and any extras. Regular visits cost less per hour than occasional ones, and every visit has a minimum call-out. Our current rates are on our prices page, and our post on how quotes are worked out explains what we ask before we price a job. Quotes are free and there are no hidden charges.
What is included in a clean?
A regular clean covers the rooms you use every day: dusting, vacuuming and mopping, kitchen worktops, the sink and hob, cupboard fronts, and a full clean of the bathroom and toilet. Beds can be made and bins emptied. Jobs that take longer, such as inside the oven or fridge and interior windows, are extras you add when you book. Who provides the products and equipment?
We bring our own cleaning products and equipment, and we use eco-friendly cleaning products. Prefer something else? Bio products or a particular brand can be used instead, and so can your own, if you tell us when you book, at no extra cost. It varies between companies, so when you compare, ask each one whether products and equipment are included in the rate, charged separately or expected from you. If anyone at home has allergies, or you have surfaces that need a particular product, tell us that too.
Do I need to be at home?
Not necessarily, but agree access before the first visit. Ask how keys or door codes are handled and kept safe, and whether you need to be in for the first clean. If you have pets, an alarm or rooms you would rather the cleaner did not enter, mention them when you book so they are on the agreed list.
Will I have the same cleaner each time?
We send the same cleaner for every regular visit, where possible. It means the person cleaning your home knows how you like things done and what needs extra attention. If your usual cleaner is away, ask how the visit will be covered.
Are your cleaners insured and checked?
Any company you let into your home should be able to answer this clearly. Ask whether it has public liability insurance, how it checks the people it sends, and whether its cleaners are employed or self-employed. How soon can you come?
That depends on the diary and the job. We offer appointments seven days a week, and same-day service is available, so it is worth calling even at short notice. For an end of tenancy clean, book as soon as you know your moving date.
Can I change or cancel a visit?
Plans change, and a good service makes it easy to move or pause a visit with reasonable notice. Ask what notice is needed before you start, so there are no surprises if you go on holiday or need to rearrange.
What if something is missed?
Even careful cleaners occasionally miss something. What matters is what happens next. With us, if something is ever missed, tell us within 24 hours and we will make it right.
